Come and see the wonder of the largest inland lake in the U.P. The 13,800 acres of Lake Gogebic offer some of the best fishing for Walleye, Northern, Bass and Jumbo Perch, but you can also catch some pan fish. Lake Gogebic is wonderful for fishing, water sports and is a great kept secret.
Fields of Lupine are found everywhere. They grow wild in the U.P. of Michigan. Around the middle of May the trees are in full bloom. You may get lucky and spot a nesting eagle.
If you like waterfalls, then this is the area to be in!
We have over 20 waterfalls in the Western U.P. Some of the favorites are Bond Falls and Black River Harbor. Bond Falls has easy access and is a favorite for taking that family photo by. In the Porcupine Wilderness Park you will find Black River Harbor & Lake of the Clouds, which is one of the most visited spots next to Lake Superior in this region and it’s only 30 minutes away from the Root Cellar. It’s a must see! There are too many waterfalls to see in just one visit. When you stay with us, please ask for a map to find these gems.
